Specialties: adults, children/adolescents, couples, relationships, depression, anxiety, complex trauma, exploration of sex and sexuality, gender, sexual orientation, chronic pain, consensual non-monogamy, identity exploration, grief, end of life transitions, prenatal and postpartum, existential concerns, intergenerational trauma, eco-psychology, and spirituality.

My name is Alex Kropf (she/her) and I live on unceded Gabrielino/Tongva land (Los Angeles, CA) and I identify as queer, cisgender, and of European/Mexican descent. I acquired my Masters in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles with a specialization in Spiritual and Depth Psychology. I practice from a trauma-informed, sex-positive, queer-affirming, feminist, spiritual, and social justice-oriented standpoint, and I am dedicated to challenging patriarchal-colonial-capitalist systems that have oppressed the minds, bodies, and spirits of my clients and the collective community.

Understanding how the “personal is political” and how psychological challenges are rooted in systemic oppression is central to my work. I hold an undergraduate degree in Women and Gender Studies from Loyola Marymount University and have worked as a medical assistant at a sexual health center and have several years of experience as a birth and postpartum doula. Working with people experiencing deep vulnerability regarding their sexuality, pain, pleasure, health, entry into motherhood and gender identity fueled my interest in becoming a feminist and sex-positive therapist. I have also had the opportunity of co-writing a chapter in The Handbook of Consensual Non-Monogamy Affirming Mental Health Practice about themes of consensual non-monogamy in the clinical setting and enjoy working with CNM-identified clients.

I utilize a multi-theoretical framework that incorporates feminist, humanistic, existential, somatic, and internal family systems, mindfulness, gestalt, psychodynamic, and attachment-based approaches. My spiritual and depth background includes an implementation of art, somatic experiencing, dreamwork, ancestral re-connection, and archetypal exploration. I am deeply committed to climate justice and incorporate eco-therapy into my work as well because I believe reconnecting to the earth is vital to our mental health and overall well-being.

I am passionate about working with those of all ages and identity backgrounds who are interested in self-exploration and discovery. My goal is to guide and support you through the alchemical processes of healing and transformation as you live your freest and most authentic life. I hope to offer my strengths of compassion, connection, curiosity, and a good sense of humor to aid you on your journey.

My interests include gardening, camping, philosophy, writing, listening to music, dancing, art, horseback riding, cultivating joy with friends and family, snuggling with my 2 cats, and studying the mysteries of life.
